Tyra Williams is a Director, Writer, and Editor. Tyra was born in New Orleans, Louisina but raised in Kyle, Texas. Tyra initially started out in theatre by acting in community theatre in Austin as well as her high school play production. She shifted gears to filmmaking after acting on Sarah Parrish's short film "Rouxgaroux" which sparked her passion for film. Although her experience began in theatre, she finds that her theatre background was essential to crafting to films that reveal human nature.
Tyra makes film and content that feature POC and the LGBTQ+ community. Tyra delves into the nuanced experiences of each community through science fiction. She hopes to create opportunities for marginalized communities that will create a filmmaking space of artistic freedom.
She has a BFA in Theatre with a Concentration in Film Production at Texas State University. She is currently an Assistant Editor at a TV Production Company in Austin, Texas.
